Great minds think alike

Last night I went to a work do. I had on my heels but en route to the bar I sheepishly confessed to my colleague how I had my flat shoes hidden in my bag. I am just not hard-core enough to totter home in heels anymore (I am obviously getting on a bit). She laughed at me and opened her bag to reveal an identical set of Birk’s tucked away in her handbag. Seems we were not alone – after our meal out a few of us ladies left at the same time. We all assembled out front and reached into our bags in unison to pull out the ever practical flat shoes – much to the amusement of the smokers.

Pigeon toed

My friend emailed me yesterday and told me she had just tripped over a bird. Not a fellow commuter, but a pesky pigeon. I am glad I am not the only one who is accident prone, or prone to collisions with pigeons!

Sole Mate

This week I have seen people I have not seen in ages, unexpectedly, in the most random of places.  I have also seen an awful lot of shoes, unexpectedly, in the most random of places. London seems to be facing a solitary shoe epidemic … A stiletto here, a pump there, on their own, all alone, half a pair. Baffling. Truly baffling. How exactly do people lose just one shoe?

I really hope that the single shoe situation will not become as big as the single person situation facing the capital. Before we know it people will be writing profiles about the shoe they lost in Shoreditch, and how it was the most genuine, fun-loving, loyal shoe, that loved a night on the tiles as well as reclining on the rug by a roaring fire…before it walked out on them…probably to go snowboarding :)

in escalator steps when wearing stiletto’s…

The humiliation factor doesn’t bare thinking about.

I have a head for heights

and it’s a good thing too, because with the ridiculous shoes I have earmarked for NYE, I am going to end up in 2010 about 2 feet ahead of everyone else.

Bah Humbug

December 1st. Christmas carols on the radio. The pink feather fiber optic tree (NOT MINE) is up in the office. It is only a matter of time before the compulsory tinsel bedecked monitor decoration comes into force. Stuff the advent calendar, I am buying a new pair of shoes every day in the run up to Christmas.

I started today with another pair of boots – surely 3rd time lucky?

There was an old lady who lived in a shoe.

It dawned on me this weekend that if had not amassed such a large collection of impractical footwear during my time in London, perhaps I would be in a position to scrape together a deposit for a place of my own. Maybe it’s not too late…

There was an old lady who lived in a shoe.

“Inspired by the old woman who lived in a shoe, Kirsty sold her vast collection of footwear as a deposit for her new place.”
